Layered with Love by Nrupali Patel is a home baking company. We want your experience with us to be excellent, so please take the time to read our terms and conditions carefully. Once you have paid your deposit, we take this as your acceptance of our terms and conditions.
Enquiries
You may contact us for a quote via email (info@layeredwithlove.co.uk), our online website form, WhatsApp messaging (07838683946), Instagram messages or Facebook Messenger. A quote will be provided which is valid for 7 days. Please note, dates are not reserved until a deposit has been paid and acknowledged and therefore availability is not guaranteed for the full 7 days.
Products
We use the finest quality ingredients to create bespoke cakes, cupcakes, biscuits and other sweet treats. All products are handmade and whilst every effort will be made to ensure consistency, there may be variations to sketches or photos provided. Please note shades of colours can vary and may present differently on computer or phone screens to the actual final product.
Please note that all designs are bespoke and whilst we can use examples of other creations as inspiration, we will not reproduce exact copies of designs.
We always consider factors that may affect the finalised product and provide advice where possible during the enquiry phase.
As we have no control over environmental factors, we cannot accept any responsibility for any damage or melting of products once they have been delivered or left our premises.
Allergens
Please note all products that we create are produced in a kitchen that uses known allergens. Unfortunately, we are unable to confirm any of our products are free from a certain allergen.
Making Amendments to Your Order
Every written quote provided by us will include details of the design. It is your responsibility to read and check this carefully. Please contact us as soon as possible if you require any amendments to your order. We will do our best to accommodate your request and will advise you of any cost changes related to any amendment. On occasion, it may not be possible to accommodate your amendment request. If this is the case, we will advise you of this. Please note that we will not be able to offer a refund of any payments made to date should this situation arise.
On occasion, we may need to make amendments to your products due to circumstances outside of our control, such as melting due to hot weather. If these are significant amendments that will impact the flavour or design of your finalised product, we will notify you. If you do not accept these amendments, you may contact us prior to your order being produced to discuss the cancellation of your order.
Non-Edible Items
On occasion, we may use non-edible items within our products, these may include (but are not limited to) support dowels, cocktail sticks or skewers, florist wires/tape in sugar flowers, flower picks, ribbons, figures or toys or cake/cupcake toppers. It is your responsibility to remove them before serving the products to your guests.
If you request to have fresh flowers used on your product, it will be your responsibility to advise your florist that you require flowers to be used on a cake or edible item. This will allow them to ensure they provide you with food safe flowers as certain flowers are toxic and not suitable to be used on food items. All flowers will need to be wired and covered with florist tape or a food safe barrier to ensure they are safe for placing on or around our product. Whilst we will take all precautions possible to ensure the flowers placed on your cake are safe, you accept that fresh flowers may contain dirt, pesticides or other contaminants and we cannot be held responsible for any illness, disease or death from the use of fresh flowers on your edible products. It is your responsibility to remove all fresh flowers before serving the product to your guests.
We may be able to source fresh flowers from a reputable florist and this cost will be added to your quote. Please note, we cannot be held responsible for the quality, colour or appearance of any flowers used on our products.
Consumption & Shelf Life
All products are made fresh for your specified collection or delivery date. All ingredients used are fresh and natural and therefore do not have a prolonged shelf life.
Cakes and cupcakes are best consumed within 36 hours from collection or delivery. These should be stored in a dry, cool place and they do not require refrigeration. Buttercream cakes/cupcakes can be refrigerated on exceptionally warm days, however, please allow them to fully return to room temperature before serving and consuming. Fondant cakes/cupcakes should be stored at room temperature. We do not recommend freezing your cakes.
Other products such as chocolates, cake hearts or biscuits will have a longer shelf life. We recommend they taste best if eaten within 5 days of collection or delivery.
Delivery
We are able to offer delivery to Cardiff and surrounding areas, subject to availability. Delivery may be available outside this area upon request. Any delivery charges are based on mileage, toll/parking charges and time. All charges related to delivery will be made clear on your written quote.
It is your responsibility to inform us of the location of the delivery venue, date and time. We would also expect you to make us aware of any parking restrictions, accessibility issues or obstacles that we may face when delivering your products. Tiered cakes are more at risk of damage so please inform us of any issues we may face when delivering a tiered cake to you.
We will aim to deliver your order in the condition expected at the agreed date and time. However, on occasion, there may be circumstances outside of our control such as adverse weather conditions, restrictions on travel or other causes that delay your delivery. We will contact you as soon as we become aware of these circumstances. As these factors are beyond our control, we are unable to offer a refund on your order should these circumstances arise.
We are not liable for any damage to any products once we have left your venue or premises. We will always endeavour to check you (or a member of staff at a wedding venue) are happy with the completed product when we deliver (where possible). We will always take photos of wedding cakes following set up to ensure we have left the cake in an appropriate condition. We cannot be held liable for any damage caused to the wedding cake by anyone other than members of our team.
Collection
You are welcome to collect your cakes from our premises. A set date and time slot will be arranged during the enquiry phase and included on your written quote. We will do our utmost to ensure your products are boxed well and stable for transport, however please note, cakes in particular are fragile and can be damaged easily and therefore we recommend you take appropriate precautions with transporting our products.
If you choose to collect and transport your products, we cannot be held liable for any damage once your products leave our premises. Please note, tiered wedding cakes are not suitable for collection, they must be delivered and set up by us.
No refunds will be offered for cakes not collected at the agreed date and time.
Cake Setup & Display
For wedding or event cakes, it is your responsibility to ensure there is a suitable table in a secure and stable area for the cake to be displayed on. You will need to ensure the table is sturdy and able to withhold sufficient weight. Cakes are fragile and prone to damage if supported on unstable ground/table or left in direct sunlight, under spotlights or near heat sources. Please advise your venue of this so you can agree a suitable area for the cake to be set up and displayed.
We will not be liable for any damage after we have set up the cake. Please ensure all items such a display table, table linen and cake stands are set up and ready for us when we arrive. If these resources are not available, then we will not be able to complete our cake set up and cannot be held responsible for leaving the cake with the event manager or caterers to move or set up.
We cannot be held responsible for any damage caused after we have completed the cake set up; this can include damage caused by florists when placing flowers on your cake. If damage has been caused and is repairable, please contact us as soon as possible. We will be able to advise if we are able to return to the premises to repair the damage, however there may be an additional charge for this.
Deposits & Payments
All orders will be secured, and dates reserved, once a non-refundable deposit has been received and acknowledged.
Orders below £40.00 (or placed for collection/delivery within 3 days) – Deposit will be the full order total.
Orders above £40.00 – Deposit will be 50% of order total. Remainder 50% will be due 3 days before agreed collection/delivery date.
Wedding Orders – Deposit of £100.00 is required to reserve wedding date. 50% of remaining balance is due 3 months before agreed collection/delivery date. Remainder of balance is due 1 month before agreed collection/delivery date.
Late Payments
Please note, if payments are not made within the timeframe outlined by the terms above, we reserve the right to cancel your order in line with our cancellation policy. Any payments or deposits made to date will be forfeited and no refunds issued. We require all payments to be cleared in our account before any products are released.
Refunds & Cancellations
All orders except Wedding orders – All deposits and additional payments are non-refundable in any circumstances. If the date of your event changes, we will attempt to transfer your order to your new date. If this is possible, we will advise you of any further costs associated. If production of your order has started then it will not be possible to transfer your order, and this will be treated as a cancellation.
If you cancel your order unfortunately no refunds will be made for any payments made.
Wedding orders – In the event of a cancellation your £100.00 deposit is non-refundable. If cancellation takes place 1-3 months before the agreed collection/delivery date a 50% refund will be provided (less the £100.00 non-refundable deposit). If cancellation takes place 1 month before the agreed collection/delivery date, no refund will be provided of any payments made.
If the date of your wedding changes, we will attempt to accommodate your new wedding date, subject to availability. We will contact you to discuss if this is feasible and advise you of any additional costs related to the change.
Events Outside of Our Control
We reserve the right to cancel any orders due to circumstances beyond our control, such as, but not limited to, our ill health or personal emergency. In these situations, we will contact you and refund any payments made.
We are not liable for any refunds due to events beyond our control such as but not limited to natural disasters, epidemic or pandemics, Acts of God, extreme weather conditions, power failure, strikes, lock-outs or other industrial action by third parties, riots and other civil unrest, fire, explosion, acts of terrorism (threatened or actual), acts of war (declared, undeclared, threatened, actual or preparations for war) or any other event that is beyond our reasonable control. If production of your order has not begun, we will discuss transferring your booking to an alternate date, in the event we are not available for the alternate date we are unable to offer a refund of any payments made.
Complaints
We always strive to provide excellent service and meet your expectations by providing a positive experience and we always welcome feedback. If you have a complaint regarding a product you have received, we would like to hear from you.
We recommend you, a member of family or a trusted event planner is present during collection or delivery to inspect the products. If you have any complaints with the products on collection or delivery, please raise this so the issue can be rectified in time for your event.
All complaints after collection or delivery should be made in writing via email to info@layeredwithlove.co.uk including as much information as possible and photographic evidence of the issue.
A refund will not be provided for products that have been consumed or partially consumed irrespective of the complaint, as consumption implies the product is adequate for purpose. Any refunds provided will be at the sole discretion of Layered with Love.
